📍 11th Challenge (2): “There is a reason why Israel wins when Moses raises his hands, and loses when he lowers them”

The event in Exodus 17 can be divided into two main parts:

1️⃣ Quarreling over water

  • After this event, we must pay attention to the names Massah and Meribah.

→ “He called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and tested the Lord saying, ‘Is the Lord among us or not?’” (v.7)

🔎 In this verse:

  • Israel “quarreled” → later they quarrel with Amalek
  • The name reflects their doubt about God’s presence

Right after this, Amalek appears. (This is intentional — see point 2)

→ “Then Amalek came and fought with Israel at Rephidim.” (v.8)

2️⃣ The battle with Amalek

When Moses raised his hands, Israel prevailed; when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed.

🙂 The striking point:
This scene mirrors verse 7 perfectly.

🔎 As if demonstrating:
“Is God among us or not?”

  • Hands raised → Israel wins
  • Hands lowered → Amalek wins

✔️ This is a battlefield expression of verse 7

✔️ Only God could turn a statement into such a vivid scene

✔️ With a remarkable touch of divine “wit” (Moses raising and lowering hands)

3️⃣ First “treasure” found (v.16)

→ “The Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

→ “Write this as a memorial… I will completely blot out Amalek.” (v.16)

🙂 Of those who left Egypt, only Joshua and Caleb entered the land.
The rest died in the wilderness — many through such conflicts.
Their children grew up and continued fighting Amalek.

➡️ This confirms: “from generation to generation”

📌 Conclusion

👉 Exodus 17 is a perfectly structured narrative by God

👉 The raising and lowering of hands is not random
→ it explains: “Is God among us or not?”

✔️ A method only God could design ➡️ The God of perfect “wit”

💡 Suddenly, a new idea came to mind (12th additional challenge), so I went to compete.

📍 12th challenge with artificial intelligence:
“A problem designed to help understand the 11th challenge”

➡️ (Click to view  12th challenge)

✔️ Reason for creating the 12th challenge:

  • It was created as a question to help grasp the content of Chapter 17 all at once,
  • and the way to verify this was through a competition with artificial intelligence.
